Privacy Policy

How A1 Blogs collects, uses and protects your personal information when you read our site, contact us or subscribe to our newsletter.

Last updated

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information A1 Blogs (“we”, “us”) collects when you use a1blogs.com (the “site”), how we use it and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy.

Who we are

A1 Blogs is an independent digital news publication available at https://a1blogs.com. You can contact us about privacy at info@a1blogs.com or through our contact page.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact form: your name, email address, the topic and subject you choose, and your message.
  • Newsletter: your email address, the date you subscribed, the page where you signed up and a one-way hash of your IP address, which we use to prevent abuse.
  • Comments, where comments are open on a story: the name, email address and website you enter, and your comment.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you visit and the time of your visit. Our hosting provider records this in server logs for security and performance.
  • Usage statistics, if we use analytics services such as Google Analytics.
  • A page view count for each story, which powers our Most read list. This count does not identify you.

How we use your information

  • To reply to messages you send us.
  • To send the newsletter you asked for, and to stop sending it when you unsubscribe.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix technical problems.
  • To understand which stories readers find useful and improve our coverage.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential cookies that keep the site working and secure, including cookies WordPress sets when you log in or leave a comment.
  • Your light or dark display preference, stored in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device.
  • Analytics cookies, if analytics is enabled, which help us understand how the site is used.
  • Advertising cookies, if we show ads from third parties such as Google. These providers may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work properly without essential cookies.

Third-party services

We use service providers to run the site. They process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service:

  • Hosting: the site is hosted by Hostinger.
  • Google services, which may include Google Analytics and Google Search Console, connected through Google Site Kit. Google explains how it uses data in its Privacy Policy.
  • Email delivery services that send our newsletter and contact form messages.
  • Embedded content such as videos or social media posts. Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other website directly, and that website may collect data about you.

How long we keep information

  • Contact messages: only as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep your address marked as unsubscribed so we do not email you again, unless you ask us to delete it.
  • Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited period for security purposes.
  • Comments: kept while the story is published, unless you ask us to remove them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To make a request, email info@a1blogs.com. We will respond as soon as we can and within any time limit set by law.

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter using the link in any newsletter email.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
