Shahid Khan net worth in 2026

Forbes puts Shahid Khan’s net worth at $16.3 billion, ranking him around 171st in the world and 70th on the Forbes 400 list of richest Americans. Most of the fortune comes from Flex-N-Gate, the privately held car parts maker he controls, with the rest in sports teams, hotels and investments.

Because Flex-N-Gate is private, its value is an estimate based on revenue and comparable listed suppliers. That is why figures differ between publications. Forbes estimated him at $13.3 billion in early 2025, so his wealth has grown strongly over the past two years.

Early life in Lahore

Shahid Rafiq Khan was born on 18 July 1950 in Lahore. His father sold construction equipment and his mother taught mathematics. In 1967, aged 16, he travelled to the United States to study engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, arriving with very little money and working as a dishwasher to pay his way.

He graduated with a degree in industrial engineering in 1971 and joined Flex-N-Gate, a small car parts company, as an engineer.

How he built Flex-N-Gate

Khan’s breakthrough was an idea for a one-piece truck bumper that was lighter and cheaper to make than the multi-part designs of the time. In 1978 he started his own business, Bumper Works, to make it. Toyota became a key customer and later held up his company as a model supplier.

In 1980 he bought Flex-N-Gate, his former employer, and merged it with Bumper Works. Over the next four decades Flex-N-Gate grew into one of North America’s largest car parts suppliers, making bumpers, lighting, mechanical assemblies and other components for almost every major carmaker. Forbes reports that it now runs around 76 plants with more than 27,000 employees.

Sports: the Jaguars, Fulham and AEW

In 2012 Khan bought the Jacksonville Jaguars for about $770 million, becoming the first member of an ethnic minority to own an NFL team. A year later he bought Fulham Football Club in London. The club has moved between the Premier League and the Championship under his ownership, and he has invested heavily in its Riverside Stand.

In 2019 he and his son Tony Khan launched All Elite Wrestling, which quickly became the main rival to WWE. Tony also runs Ring of Honor wrestling, which the family bought in 2022.

Other businesses and investments

Outside car parts and sport, Khan owns the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto and is developing a large riverfront project in Jacksonville, including a new Four Seasons hotel planned to open in 2027. He also owns a superyacht, the Kismet, one of the best known in the world.

Family and personal life

Khan married Ann Carlson in 1977. They have two children: Tony, who runs AEW and holds senior roles with the Jaguars and Fulham, and Shanna. He became a US citizen in 1991 and lives in Naples, Florida.

Philanthropy and recognition

Khan has supported his former university and community causes in Jacksonville, and sits on the board of the NFL Foundation. Forbes featured him on its cover in 2012 as the face of the American Dream, and in 2025 the Carnegie Corporation named him a Great Immigrant.

Lessons from his story

Khan’s rise rests on one product idea, executed well and sold to a demanding customer. Rather than spreading into unrelated businesses early, he spent decades making Flex-N-Gate the supplier carmakers trusted, then used that wealth to buy assets with global profile. For young engineers and founders in Pakistan, the story is less about luck than about solving a real cost problem for a big customer.
