Bashir Dawood net worth in 2026

Published estimates put Bashir Dawood’s net worth at around $850 million. Forbes and Bloomberg do not track him, and much of his wealth is believed to have come from the sale of Dawlance and from investments since then, which are private. The figure is therefore an estimate.

Founding Dawlance

Bashir Dawood established Dawlance in 1980 as a refrigerator manufacturer in Karachi. The brand grew quickly as more Pakistani households bought fridges and freezers, and over time it added deep freezers, microwave ovens, washing machines and air conditioners.

By the 2010s Dawlance was widely regarded as Pakistan’s leading refrigerator brand, competing with Haier, PEL and Orient. Its dealer network reached small towns across the country, and its marketing made it a household name.

The sale to Arcelik

In 2016 Arcelik, the Turkish appliance maker that owns the Beko brand, agreed to buy Dawlance. The purchase was completed in November 2016 for $258 million in total, through two transactions. Arcelik’s Dutch subsidiary bought United Refrigeration and the Dawlance companies from Bashir and Mariyam Dawood for $148 million, and bought Dawlance Electronics from Pan Asia Equity for $94 million.

The deal drew scrutiny because Dawlance Electronics had been sold to Pan Asia Equity in 2013 for $3.3 million, three years before being resold for $94 million. That led to account freezes and investigations under anti-money-laundering rules. We have not found a published final outcome of those inquiries.

Dawlance after the sale

Under Arcelik, Dawlance has continued as one of Pakistan’s leading appliance brands. The sale showed that international companies were willing to pay well for strong local consumer brands.

Lessons from the Dawlance story

Dawlance is one of the few Pakistani consumer brands to be built from scratch and sold to a global company at a large price. Its strengths were a product suited to local conditions, including power fluctuations and hot summers, and a wide dealer network. How the A1 Rich List estimates net worth

We use Forbes’ real-time figure where Forbes tracks a person. For everyone else we use the most widely cited published estimate, from sources such as Wikipedia’s list of Pakistanis by net worth, the Sunday Times Rich List and Pakistani business publications, and we name the source on each profile. Where reports give a range, we rank on the midpoint. Private companies are hard to value, so treat every estimate as a guide rather than an exact figure.
