Tariq Saigol net worth in 2026
Published estimates put Tariq Saigol’s net worth at around $1.2 billion. Forbes and Bloomberg do not track him, so the figure is an estimate. It is partly grounded in listed holdings: Kohinoor Textile Mills owns about 56.5% of Maple Leaf Cement, and both companies trade on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. In 2025, Maple Leaf Cement reported revenue of about Rs68.7 billion and net profit of about Rs11.5 billion.
The Saigol family story
The Saigols were farmers from Khotian in Chakwal district, later renamed Saigolabad in their honour. Ameen Saigol started the family business in the 1930s with a small shop that became Kohinoor Rubber Works. His son Sayeed Saigol built a shoe and rubber business in Calcutta that supplied Allied forces during the Second World War, then moved the family’s assets to Lahore before Partition.
In 1949 the family opened Kohinoor Industries, its first textile mill, in Lyallpur, now Faisalabad. Through the 1950s and 1960s the group expanded into sugar, banking, chemicals and power, and became one of the best-known business families in the country.
Nationalisation and recovery
The Saigols were among the families hit hardest by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s nationalisation programme in the early 1970s. By 1976 only their textile and sugar businesses remained. Under General Zia-ul-Haq, privatisation began again, and the family rebuilt over the following decades.
Today the wider family is split into three groups led by cousins: Tariq Saigol’s Kohinoor Maple Leaf Group, Naseem Saigol’s Saigol Group, which owns Pak Elektron (PEL), and Iqbal Saigol’s Muhib Group.
Maple Leaf Cement
Maple Leaf Cement was founded in 1956 with help from the Government of Canada, which explains its name. It was privatised in 1992 and has since grown into one of the larger cement makers in northern Pakistan. Tariq Sayeed Saigol is its chairman, while Sayeed Tariq Saigol is chief executive.
In November 2022 the company commissioned a new production line at Iskanderabad in Punjab, adding 7,000 tonnes a day of capacity. The group also owns Maple Leaf Power.
Kohinoor Textile Mills
Kohinoor Textile Mills, the parent of Maple Leaf Cement, continues the family’s original textile business. Cement, textiles and power remain the core of the group. For context on how cement shares move the market, see our guide to the KSE-100 index.

How the A1 Rich List estimates net worth
We use Forbes’ real-time figure where Forbes tracks a person. For everyone else we use the most widely cited published estimate, from sources such as Wikipedia’s list of Pakistanis by net worth, the Sunday Times Rich List and Pakistani business publications, and we name the source on each profile. Where reports give a range, we rank on the midpoint. Private companies are hard to value, so treat every estimate as a guide rather than an exact figure.
